I started on a set of questions yesterday. I am going to finish them today. Click here to go back and see what you missed.
For those who decide not to read yesterday’s post and who are not aware, you can install the WordPress software on your own web host or you can use WordPress.com which gives you a free blog that you do not have to worry about upgrading etc. The first option is often called the .org version because you can download it from WordPress.org. The other option is called the .com version.
Q. If I switch to the .org option, can I download and use an earlier version of WordPress?
A. Yes, but I strongly suggest that you do not. Running older software on a web-server is a huge security risk. If you are going to self-host anyway go with the most recent version and use plugins to make it look old. Sounds like buying new jeans and ripping holes in them, but it is a much safer route to getting the functionality you are looking for.
Q. Can you make the widgets page easier to work with? Make it so I do not have to click “save” so many times.
A. If you are on your own server (.org version), yes. There is probably is a plugin that will do it. If not, I am starting to write some plugins and might be able to do it. If you stay on .com though, I will at least mention that you do not have to save the widget before you make changes only afterwords.
Q. How do I install Flash content in WordPress.com?
A. Again, with .org this is easy. With .com, one option is to use VodPod.com or if you can wait a couple months I think this is a big part of the 2.8 plans.
Any other questions?
Does anyone have other questions about WordPress that they would like to ask? How about a China question?

Now i know how to do it
Thanks
Luke,
Great, this is very helpful. I’m sure businesses of all kinds can benefit from this.
Thanks for sharing.
I can see how that helps businesses, and it could actually be easier for them to install it on their own sites if they are self-hosted. A friend of mine helped me out with my own site and WordPress is really user friendly, especially 2.7.
If you know tell me where is wb-connt/plugin directory in marblehost
I’m wondering if version 2.7 is stable enough to justify the headache of upgrading?
marblehost, It should be in the folder that you installed WordPress in, and it is spelled wp-content/plugin if that helps any.
Jeremy,
There is a plug-in that takes most of the pain out of the upgrade. I talk about it here.

Yes 2.7 is very stable. And has the most current security updates. Even if you are only looking at security and stability it is worth it. If you consider things like a more powerful UI and better integration with plug-ins too, then it is a must-have.
Interesting article you had linked in the comment Luke. And I agree with you. 2.7 is much better and people should be upgrade to it definitely. The stability of 2.7 is the best part for me. Works really awesome. As always, WordPress Rocks
