Sunday Snippets 2008-11-16

I am still working on a list of the top WordPress plugins but I guess that is ok since they have not released WordPress 2.7 yet. I had no idea that there were so many of these plugins.

Open Comments

Comments are open on this blog now. No name or email address required. After opening comments, comment rates have increased, but oddly enough none of them have been anonymous. I did notice one person decided to skip the email and web-site fields. The funny thing is the email address is never made public anyway. It is just used for follow-ups.

Commenting is good for you

Entering your web-address/blog in your comment creates a link back to your site. That link moves you a little higher in the results of anyone that searches a keyword used on your sites, which increases your odds of finding friends with common interests. Of course, commenting on some blogs help more than others. The more traffic the site is getting, the more valuable the link from that site, unless the site is using a no-follow tag, in which case it doesn’t help much at all. This blog does not use the no-follow tag and so getting a link from here is very helpful.

Quote of the Week

I’ll never be eaten by alligators again.

A reply on facebook

My twitter updates are automatically copied over to facebook and occasionally people will respond there instead of on twitter. Here is one from this week.

Facebook reply to the Tweet: The story is more more powerful than the facts.

Darrell A. Harrisand sometimes, vice-versa~

Luke GedeonSometimes… but not these times. The days of “the fact” are quickly fading… only to return in the midst of a great war on domestic soil. Until then the great storytellers will rule the world.
