What does this symbol mean to you? 2008-06-25

I am helping someone with another logo. One of the preferred symbols is fairly simple, and carries a good bit of meaning, but it also looks familiar to me – almost like it is already being used for something else. I just can’t quite put my finger on it. If you recognize this symbol please let me know.

If you don’t immediately associate this with something else, what do you think the meaning if this symbol is? I would really like to know what your first impression is and then any other thoughts you have on meaning or aesthetics. You can leave a comment or contact me in any of these other ways.

So, what does this mean to you?

  1. The first is a table. The second it the sun over the mountains. Third the moon over the mountains. and the last is a spaceship over the mountains

  2. Either a beach ball on ocean waves, or an upside-down screaming and squinting face.

  3. Wow! Such creativity in what people see, even upside down! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have heard the description of this symbol and know what it means, but having seen it for the first time, here is what I think:

Can I say it looks like the “M” fell off an M&M? Just teasing! The first thing I thought was that it looked like something with 4 legs (especially the 2nd one). Then I saw the “M.” The first one kind of looks like a comic box that should have a quote in it. The 3rd and 4th ones look like a balloon is fortunate to be landing between 2 thorns. It is almost like it is landing in a place that is perfectly right for it. I am not sure what the 4th one looks like.

When I asked the kids what they saw, they said the “legs” looked like mountains, trees, or people. The circle, to them, looked like the sun, the moon, or a cloud. I must admit that I liked the idea above that they look like mountains with the sun over them. ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite of all is the 3rd one, but I’m not sure exactly why. I think it may be a combination of the circle having a thinner border than the rest and the fact that it is asymmetrical. It is also really cool that the circle seems to be landing right where it was always intended to.

  4. They are Stargate chevron symbols.

  6. does anyone know what this symbol means ๐Ÿ™‚ ??????

  7. From left to right, it’s a string of events. A space ship drops out of warp over the ocean and then proceeds on half impulse.

I could make up the rest of the story, but I would need more pictures.

  8. two people fell in love :). If you know Chinese characters, the bottom are two persons. For the top part, it is more like a moon or a huge egg.
